During their anime festival 2020, Netflix announced that Kousuke Oono‘s award winning manga series, ‘The Way of the househusband‘ is getting an anime adaptation in 2021. The first visual for the anime was released and it shows Tatsu, the former yakuza in an apron holding a bento box.

Upon the announcement by Netflix, the Manga creator Kousuke Oono uploaded a new celebratory visual on his twitter account.

It is revealed that J.C Staff studios will be producing the The Way of the Househusband anime and will be directed by Chiaki Kon. Also, seiyuu Kenjiro Tsuda will be voicing the protagonist Tatsu.
The story is about a legendary yakuza named Tatsu who had single-handedly defeated a rival gang just with the use of a lead pipe. The name was enough to cause fear among both the police and other criminals. After a sudden disappearance, he comes back with a change is profession, that is as a househusband with a cute apron on. Tatsu realizes being a househusband isn’t as easy as it sounds. It has it’s own challenges because of his past. What are the challenges? and how will the former yakuza fare in overcoming them? To find the answers, we need to wait for 2021.
‘The Way of the Househusband’ manga has recieved many awards. The list includes ‘Best overall series’ and ‘Best Comedy series’ award in 2018 awarded by Pixiv Comic Ranking. It has also won the ‘Best Humor Publication’ award in 2020 given by Eisner Awards.
